||Alan Ridout 1934-1996, composer and teacher, was born at West Wickham, Kent, England. He studied at the Guildhall School of Music & the Royal College of Music, under Howells, Jacob & Tippett. He then taught at the Royal College, the Universities of Birmingham, Cambridge and London, and at the King's School, Canterbury. He was an Oblate of Ampleforth Abbey, and left it his manuscripts & copyrights by his will.
