The authority for these names comes from Fr Hilary Willson (1858-1948), who wrote them on the same page of the album (Y203 p3) as the photograph, probably in the 1940’s. He was clothed as a novice in 1876, so he had many opportunities to know these men, or those who themselves had known them. However, he missed no 6, and puts Austin Pozzi in twice. We may have doubts, but we don’t have an alternative source.
Abbot Byrne wrote of him, He did a really vast quantity of work in the archives of his house, arranging great masses of letters and documents into volumes and files... His retentive memory superabounded in detail, and (with Herodotus) he had a gift for digressions. [Obituary]
